HILLSBORO — Crater pushed five wrestlers through to today's semifinal round and enters Day 2 in ninth place at the prestigious Reser's Tournament of Champions at Liberty High.

Roseburg, the two-time defending Class 6A state champions, managed the early lead with 103 points in the tournament many consider a good precursor to the upcoming state tournament.

Class 5A Hermiston stands second with 86 points, followed by Newberg (83), Canby (78) and Redmond (66) to round out the top five teams. Crater is ninth with 59 points.

Advancing to today's semifinals for the Comets were Truman Winningham (103 pounds), Brock Gutches (160), Kenny Fahndrich (171), Logan Brooks (189) and Brandon Hesse (285).
