Clark Jones

1977 - 2008

Clark went home to be with the Lord on Dec. 6, 2008. God's plan for Clark began with his premature birth as a — pound fighting spirit on Nov. 16, 1977, one of the first preemies at RVMH NICU. His passionate faith guided his daily walk. As a friend to all, his beautiful smile, infectious laugh, sparkling blue eyes, dare devil actions, and prankster ways will be missed, along with his loving and giving spirit that put kids and animals first.

Clark attended Hoover Elementary in Medford, Ore., prior to moving to San Diego in 1989. He was a member of Valhalla High School's multi-year Championship Water Polo Team and voted "Most Inspirational" by his peers. He graduated in 1996. His love of country and freedom led Clark to enlist in 1997, serving 10 honorable years in the U.S. Navy as an Aircrew Rescue Swimmer/Aircraft Mechanic. Duty stations included; Anderson AFB, Guam; MCAS Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii; and NAS No. Island, Calif. Clark's many military successes/awards included the ocean rescue of seven Marines off Guam on Veterans Day 1999. He served as part of the Admiral's Executive Transport Detachment in Hawaii, where he was awarded Sailor of the Qtr. and Wingman of the Qtr. 2005. Clark's pursuit of the ultimate wave took him to many regions of the world including a two month surf trip to Indonesia after discharge from the Navy. His humanitarian efforts included delivering over 50 mosquito nets, solicited from family & friends, to children in that malaria-plagued region. He also gave his excess surf boards to the local islanders prior to returning to San Diego. At the time of his passing, Clark was working for an aerospace contractor in Pa., applying his master painter certification skills.

Clark is survived by his mom and dad, Layne and Jeff Jones; brothers Erik and Tyler Jones; grandma Midge Collins-House; grandparents, Betty and Bill Jones; and aunts, uncles, cousins, and close friends.

Clark will be laid to rest next to his beloved "Gramps" Bob Collins, who preceded him in death in 2002, at Memory Gardens.
