Lewis Gene Hornsby

Lewis Hornsby, of Medford, Ore., passed away Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2009. A memorial will be held Saturday, Jan. 31, 2009, 10:00 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 3456 Bellinger Lane, Medford, Ore., 97501.

Lewis was born Nov. 23, 1938, in Medford, Ore., to Gene and Juanita Hornsby. Lew served in the U.S. Army, he also had two jobs he enjoyed. One was working on cars as a mechanic and the other was security. For many years Lew worked in security and had his own company. He often talked about his experiences as a security guard for Johnny Cash and Willie Nelson. Lew was a member of the Eagles in Medford. He enjoyed army trucks and was in a collector's club for it. He also enjoyed talking on the C.B. radio, his handle was Mountain King. He enjoyed going on drives, hunting, guns, and the mountains. Lew was a people person, he would engage in conversation with anyone, anywhere, anytime. His love for his family and friends was evident to everyone he came in contact with.

Lew is survived by his children, Terry Reece, Wade Bryant, Jeff Woodruff, Heidi Johnson, Neil Hornsby, Jennifer Drum, Snowy Larson, and Aaron Larson; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister, Ginger Morgan; and brother, Rick Hornsby.

Lew is missed already, but we know that he is with our Lord rejoicing in heaven.
