SELMA — The body of a 54-year-old woman was found floating in Clear Creek in Selma Thursday after her vehicle apparently slid off a bridge into the creek, according to the Josephine County Sheriff's Office.

Renee Nadine Kieffer, of Selma, was returning home from visiting friends when the accident occurred on a private winding road near Hidden Creek Road around midnight.

Her vehicle fell about 10 to 15 feet to the creek, where the car landed upside down, the Sheriff's Office reported. The creek water swept Kieffer's body from her vehicle and downstream about 20 yards. She was not wearing a seatbelt.

Her family called police at about 1:30 p.m. to say they had found her body in the creek.

The district medical examiner is expected to investigate the cause of death in the next week, the Sheriff's Office said.
