The actors return to the stages and the theater fans to Ashland tonight for the annual opening of the Oregon Shakespeare Festival.

The festival's 2009 season opens with "Macbeth" at 8 p.m. in the Bowmer Theatre at the festival at 15 S. Pioneer St. Tickets go for $20 to $69.

The festival is also staging "Death and the King's Horseman," "The Music Man" and "Dead Man's Cell Phone" beginning this month, with other plays launching later in the season.

Performances actually began a week ago with previews, but this weekend marks the festival's official opening.
