Timothy "Tim" Jay Bell

This obituary was created in the memory of Timothy Jay Bell born Sept. 26, 1940 and passed away on Saturday, Feb. 14, 2009, 68 years of age.



Timothy (Tim) died at his home after a courageous battle with cancer surrounded by his loved ones.

Tim was born Sept. 26, 1940, in Baldwin City, Kans. Tim graduated from Baldwin High School in 1958, where he was active in the sports program and worked as a partner on the family farm. He married Evelyn Tawney on Aug. 25, 1961 in Ottawa, Kans. After Kimberly and Bobby were born, the family moved to Baker City, Ore., where Tim was employed in a mill and worked as a ranch hand. In the late 1960s, the family moved to Blue River, Ore., where Tim pursued his career in construction which gave him opportunities to work in Washington , Oregon, California, and the North Slope of Alaska. Tim was well known for his ability to weld, fabricate and fix equipment. Tim shared that gift with many others. In 1997 Tim retired from his construction career, but continued to pursue his many projects.



His favorite past time was working on his bass pond and touring his property in his golf cart. Tim will be well remembered for his smile, great sense of humor and quick wit. He loved his weekend BBQ's at his shop, where all were welcomed. These times will be missed by all.



Tim was preceded in death by his father, Clyde Bell; and son, Bobby Bell. Tim is survived by his wife, Evelyn, of Eagle Point, Ore.; daughter, Kim Long, of Redmond, Ore.; and granddaughters, Kelly Long, of Manhattan, Kans., and Casey Long, of Redmond, Ore.; mother, Margorie Bell; sister, Nancy Billet, of Kans.; brother-in-law, Jim Tawney, of Ottawa, Kans.



At Tim's request there will be no services. The interment will be held at Brownsboro Cemetery in Eagle Point, Oregon.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Tim's name may be made to Providence Hospice of Medford, Ore. There will be a celebration of life at Tim's shop Saturday, Mar. 14, 2009, from 1:00-3:00 p.m.
