Griffin Creek Elementary School's principal dons her author hat tonight to read a book she wrote about her brother.

Ginny Fowler Hicks reads "Mountain Star" from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Medford Branch Library, 205 S. Central Ave. The presentation is free and open to the public.

The book tells the story of climber and environmental scientist Charlie Fowler, Hicks's brother, who died in a 2006 avalanche in the Himalaya mountains.

As part of the presentation, she shows how to draw a five-pointed star using the metaphor of a man climbing a mountain by hiking up, down, diagonally, across and returning home.
