1:30 p.m. update: The bank reports that its main site at www.botc.com is working again.

The Bank of the Cascades Web site is inaccessible this morning after what bank officials described as an e-mail attack.

The Bend-based bank, which has six area branches and usually does online business at www.botc.com, is offering customers online access through an alternate site, www.netteller.combotc.

It was not clear when the regular site would again be accessible.

"It is important to note that this is not an attempt to hack into our systems; there has been no compromise of customer information," Bank of the Cascades chief executive Patricia Moss said in a statement. " The site has been flooded by the intentional malicious requests, which overwhelms the site and makes it unavailable for customer use. Customers can be assured that our Internet Banking and Bill Payer sites remain secure. We are working aggressively to have the site back up and available as soon as possible."

Customer service representatives are available to answer questions at 541-617-3500, toll free at 877-617-3400 or by email at customer_service_support@botc.com.
