A woman was hospitalized this morning after she drove her sport-utility vehicle off the freeway north of Ashland.

Her name was not immediately available, and the extent of her injuries was not clear, although rescue crews used extraction equipment to remove her from the wreckage.

The accident occurred before 11 a.m., when the woman, who was traveling north, apparently drove off the freeway just north of milepost 19, and the SUV rolled onto its side.

At least one dog riding in the vehicle survived the accident. Another reportedly was with the woman but could not immediately be found.

We'll have more details as they're available.
