Senior Josh McLaughlin had an offensive bonanza Wednesday for Southern Oregon League hockey champion Ashland.

McLaughlin had four goals and two assists as the Grizzlies completed the regular season with a 6-2 victory over winless Klamath Falls at The RRRink.

Ashland opens the double-elimination league playoffs Friday against Klamath Falls. The Grizzlies-Ice Hawks contest, the final of three playoff games Friday at The RRRink, is at 9:15 p.m. South Medford opens against Crater at 5:15 p.m., followed by North Medford-Churchill at 7:15.

Ashland jumped on the Ice Hawks early. McLaughlin scored his first goal three minutes into the game, then struck again 38 seconds later.

Caitlin Williams gave Ashland a 3-0 lead off assists from McLaughlin and Casey Skolnik at the four-minute mark. McLaughlin notched his hat trick soon after as the Grizzlies led 4-1 at the end of the period.

Skolnik accounted for the other Ashland goal, while Keegan Healey had two assists and Trevor Perry one.

Ashland goaltender Gabe Dean allowed one goal on 19 shots in the first 34 minutes. Daniel Siegrist finished in net for the Grizzlies.
