Sam Newman Lewis, Jr.



Sam Newman Lewis, Jr., 84, of White City, Ore., died Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2009, at his home. Sam was born on May 15, 1924, in Pasadena, Calif., to Sam and Olive Lewis. He served as a Corporal for our country during WWII and was honorably dicharged in 1946 from the Army. He worked as an outfitter guide. Later, he managed a large ranch in the Eagle Point area, working there until he retired. Sam was a fine carpenter and also enjoyed gardening.



He is survived by his wife, Arline; two sons; two daughters; two step-sons; a step-daughter; 19 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren; as well as his brother, Richard Lewis; and two sisters, Helen Coolidge and Barbara McClish.



Interment services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, Mar. 2, 2009, at the Eagle Point National Cemetary, 2763 Riley Rd, Eagle Point, OR. Arrangements are by Abbey Funeral. www.abbeyfuneralhome.com
