The Oregon State University Extension Service has extended until today the deadline for applications to its master recycler program offered here.

Participants will attend Tuesday evening classes March 10-May 12 at the Southern Oregon Research and Extension Center at 569 Hanley Road, and will emerge with a broad understanding of recycling and waste disposal, organizers say. The course fee is $75.

The program, which offers instruction in recycling, waste prevention, composting, hazardous waste and waste infrastructure, is similar to the extension's master gardener program. In exchange for training, participants are asked to give 40 hours to support and expand local recycling programs.
