It's winter by the calendar but still time to get going on the garden, and a workshop in Ruch today aims to provide direction.

Friends of the Ruch Library presents a seed-starting workshop from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at the library at 7919 Highway 238. It's free and open to the public. Two others follow in March.

Today's class will teach participants about seed selection, seed-starting media, germination and transplanting.

A session on March 6 will cover the basics of rock gardens, and a session March 14 will teach about noxious weeds.
