Edward Don Keener

Edward D. Keener, 92, passed away at his residence, Fountain Plaza, with his wife Doreen and daughter Paulette, at his bedside on February 27, 2009.

Edward, known as Don, was born in West Plains, Missouri, April 14, 1917 to Lenora Sparks, and Ulrich Keener. He came from a musical family of 9 siblings. They moved to Medford and he married Doreen Elwood on October 17, 1936. They moved to Long Beach, Calif. in 1953 where he was employed by Douglas Aircraft and sang with a popular singing group called the Novelaires, won the Amateur Hour and made appearances with celebrities such as Peggy Lee and Rex Allen. Don and his wife moved back to Medford in 1966, where he worked at the 3M Company as Maintenance Supervisor.

Don was a hard worker and loved gardening. He planted over 40 rose bushes. He and his wife of 72 years, Doreen, loved traveling and taking trips to the ocean.

He is survived by his wife Doreen, his two daughters Paulette Marin and Carol Quinones, two son-in-laws, Orlando Marin and Ernie Quinones, as well as 5 grandchildren Vince & Daniel Quinones, Angela Marin, Linda Hurst & Kristina Allard and 6 great grandchildren Morgan, Tyler & Reagan Quinones, Alexis and Crew Allard and Brent Hurst.
