Data from the Oregon Employment Department confirms what you already suspected — unemployment continued to rise in Southern Oregon in February.

Jackson County's jobless rate rose to 12.8 percent seasonally adjusted, up from 11.8 percent in January and more than double the 6.1 percent rate of February 2008. The toll was worse in Josephine County, where unemployment rose to 14.8 percent seasonally adjusted, compared to 13.0 percent in January and 7.7 percent in February 2008.

Klamath County's jobless rate in February was 13.1 percent seasonally adjusted, up from 12.1 percent in January and 7.7 percent a year ago.
