Community Works is seeking volunteers to help victims of domestic violence, sexual assault and those in crisis:

Dunn House is the Rogue Valley's shelter for victims of domestic violence and their children. Volunteers work as advocates within the shelter, providing support for the women and children.

Dunn House Outreach provides support and advocacy through partnerships in the community to victims of domestic violence. Volunteers work in the courthouse aiding victims with protective legal orders.

HelpLine is the county's only 24-hour crisis and information hotline staffed by trained volunteers to provide information, resources and emotional support to callers. Volunteers are needed to answer the lines and provide program support. Sexual Assault Victim Services provides a 24-hour response to sexual assault survivors, their family members and significant others. Trained volunteer advocates provide services including crisis counseling, information and referral, support and follow-up.

Volunteers must have 40 hours of training and will be subject to a criminal background check.

Training in sexual violence issues and victim advocacy will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 2; training in domestic violence issues and active listening will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 3.
