Catch the tail end of whale-watching week on the Oregon Coast.

Volunteers at 26 sites along the coast will help you spot grey whales and the occasional humpback as the cetaceans head north to the waters off Alaska, where they feed during the summer. (The lucky leviathans just wintered off the shores of Mexico.)

Whale watching sites are staffed from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The closest ones are Harris Beach State Park and Cape Ferrelo in the Brookings area, but see the complete list at www.whalespoken.org, which also offers other tips and facts about whale migration.
