The Southern Oregon Historical Society will celebrate May Day with history-related activities Saturday at the Jacksonville Children's Museum, 206 N. Fifth St., Jacksonville.

The Southern Oregon Historical Society will celebrate May Day with history-related activities Saturday at the Jacksonville Children's Museum, 206 N. Fifth St., Jacksonville.

Visitors will learn about the significance of May Day celebrations in the U.S., and dance a traditional dance around a maypole on the museum's front lawn. Crafts include mini-maypoles, Hawaiian leis and May baskets to give as gifts. These activities will be available during museum hours, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dancing and refreshments will be offered from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. If the weather is poor, the celebration will be moved inside the museum.

The cost is $3 for kids up to age 13 and seniors, $5 for adults, and free to SOHS members. It includes admission to both Jacksonville museums. For more, call the SOHS Programs Department at 899-8123, ext. 225.
