A White City transportation firm topped its category in the annual Oregon Trucking Associations' Oregon State Fleet Safety Award competition.

FV Martin Trucking came in No. 1 in the Common Carrier Truckload: Less than 3 million miles category.

Roseburg Forest Products of Dillard won the Tulk/Tank/Heavy Haul classification, while Oak Harbor Freight Lines, which has a terminal in Medford, placed third in the Common Carrier Less Than Truckload: Over 5 million miles category. TP Trucking's Central Point operation placed third in the Common Carrier Truckload: Over 3 million miles category. Roseburg Forest Products was No. 1 in the Private Carrier: Less than 1 million miles division.

Competition was based on 2008 safety records, additional awards and acknowledgements and participation in OTA safety initiatives and events.

California-based Con-way Freight, which has a location in Central Point, was the fleet safety grand champion.
