Virgia L. McLeod

Virgia L. McLeod, 87, of Savoy, died Friday, April 10, at 4:45 a.m. at her home in Savoy. She was born July 3, 1921 in Virginia, the daughter of Deadrick Norman and Cleo Morgan Lynn. Her first husband, Virgil Donaldson, preceded her in death. Her second husband, Earl "Tuner" McLeod, also preceded her in death on Oct. 21, 2001.

She is survived by one daughter, Ina "Ceil" Costello; one son, Gerald Lee Donaldson, of Medford, Ore.; five grandchildren, John Costello (wife, Cindy), Sonya Lockmiller (husband Marty), Trina Martin (husband Michael), Debra Costello, and Willie Donaldson; five great-grandhcildren, Joshua Lockmiller, Rachael Lockmiller, Jared Lockmiller, Tara Martin and Taylor Martin; and one sister Ina "Ginger" Erickson of Santa Barbara, Calif.

Preceding her in death were two sisters, Crystal Lincoln, and Nellie Gentry; a half sister Catherine Webb of Knoxville, Tenn.; three brothers, Norman Lynn, Francis "Tiny" Lynn, and William "Fat" Lynn; and one granddaughter Brandi Donaldson.

Mrs. McLeod retired in 1977 after working many years as a CNA in nursing homes. During the war she worked at Nesco in Jacksonville making forty milimeter machine gun shells and at Sangamo Electric in Sprinfield assembling chassis for Navy submarines. After her retirement she was a home maker who loved taking trips and a volunteer at the Medford Senior Center. She was also a life member of the Medford Senior Center, the VFW Auxiliary Post 1833, and women of the Moose Lodge #178, all of Medford, Ore.

She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and was always willing to help when needed.
