May 11, 1926 - April 20, 2009
Rocco Marchione, Jr. passed away Monday, April 20, 2009 at 82 years old. He died peacefully in his home in Medford, Ore., surrounded by his family.
Rocco is survived by his wife of 57 years, Anne Louise Hablas Marchione and their four children, Mark, Meg, Martha and Michael; two sons-in-law, David Galt and Bill Bohler; along with six grandchildren, Jordan, Patrick, Lindsey and Piper Galt, and Nicholas and Lacy Marchione. A large extended family and many close friends were also left behind in his passing.
Rocco was born in Providence, Rhode Island to Rocco, Sr. and Margaret D'Agostino Marchione. His humor was hardy and ever-present and he was commonly sought out, not only for his solid advice, but also for strong laughs and good stories.
In his early years, Rocco helped out in his family's taxicab business and dabbled in what would remain a lifelong passion of training racehorses. After marrying, he and his bride moved out to California where he built a successful business selling building supplies. His hard work afforded his family many happy years of traveling the world, golfing every course he came across, and dropping a line in favorite fishing holes. He would later share his expertise in fishing, golfing and life with his grandchildren as a wise and stubborn teacher.
Rocco will be buried in the family plot in Fargo, North Dakota, where he and his wife first met and later married.
Rocco was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Nicholas Marchione.
In lieu of flowers, his family asks that any memorial contribution be directed to the Rogue Valley Dialysis Trust Fund.
A memorial Mass to be held at Sacred Heart Church. Monday, May 11, 2009 at 8:30 a.m.
