LOS ANGELES — Former North Medford player Rob Folsom's pinch-hit single started Oregon State on its way to a game-winning rally against UCLA Saturday in Pac-10 Conference baseball.

Joey Wong's single up the middle capped a three-run ninth inning as the Beavers registered a 5-3 victory at Jackie Robinson Stadium.

Down 3-2 entering the ninth, Folsom singled up the middle and moved to second on a Brett Casey sacrifice bunt. Adalberto Santos, pinch hitting for Michael Miller, walked, setting putting runners at second and first with one out.

Both runners moved up a base on a wild pitch by closer Gavin Brooks, and Max Shupe's single through the box scored Folsom, tying the game.

Pinch runner Brent Warren then went to second on a passed ball to set up Wong's two-run single.

Chris Giovinazzo had given UCLA the 3-2 lead with a pinch-hit solo homer off OSU reliever Josh Osich in the seventh.

Two batters later, Osich gave way to closer Kevin Rhoderick (2-1), who got the win with 12/3 innings of work.

Beavers are 24-10, 9-5 in the Pac-10. UCLA is 18-21 and 10-7.

Starter Greg Peavey went 42/3 innings for OSU, allowing seven hits and two runs with five strikeouts.

WASHINGTON 2, OREGON 0 — At Eugene, Brendan Gardner-Young's two-out, two-run single in the ninth gave Washington the win at PK Park.

Husky Jason Erickson (2-4) went the distance, allowing six hits and striking out seven.

Oregon starter Erik Stavert (4-3) was a worthy opponent. The junior right-hander had his first complete game of the year and tied a career high with 10 strikeouts. The two runs were unearned.

In the ninth, Washington's Julien Pollard doubled with one out. A walk and an error loaded the bases. Stavert struck out David Bentrott and had two strikes against Gardner-Young before the winning hit.

Oregon is 13-27, 3-11 Pac-10. The Huskies are 17-22 and 6-8.
