Clifford Lind McBeth



Clifford Lind McBeth, 81, of Jacksonville, Ore., passed away on Wednesday, April 22, 2009, at Providence Medical Center. A memorial mass will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, April 30, 2009, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Medford.

Lind was born on August 17, 1927 in Crescent City, Calif., to Clifford E. and Theresa L. McBeth. He was raised at the Piedras Blancas Lighthouse in Cambria, Calif., and attended Cabria Elementary School and graduated from San Luis Obispo High in 1946.

On April 28, 1956, in Yreka, Calif., he married Effa Corliss. He served in the Navy in WWII and was stationed in the Phillipines. Lind also worked for Bechtel Corp. in Saudia Arabia before starting his career as a land surveyor for the city of Medford in June 1956. He retired after 31 years of service.

Lind served as commander of the American Legion Post 100 in Jacksonville in 1959 and 1960 and was an active member of St. Joseph Church in Jacksonville. Lind is well known for his love of the outdoors - hunting and fishing. He was an avid football fan; especially the Oakland Raiders.

Dad had a very generous spirit and was willing to share whatever he had with those in need. He was a very loving husband and father and a constant source of strength to his family. His positive outlook on life and cheerful attitude will be sorely missed by his many friends and family members and especially by his daughters.

Lind was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Theresa McBeth. His wife, Effa, one daughter, Joyce McMahon and one brother, Stewart Perry McBeth. Survivors include two daughters, Pat Hamlin of Central Point, and Theresa Bennett of Jacksonville; six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
