KLAMATH FALLS — Alex Street helped the Class 2A St. Mary's boys golf team overtake three bigger schools with a very low score on Monday at the Running Y Invitational.

KLAMATH FALLS — Alex Street helped the Class 2A St. Mary's boys golf team overtake three bigger schools with a very low score on Monday at the Running Y Invitational.

Street was medalist with a 3-over-par 75 as the Crusaders edged South Medford by five strokes to claim the crown at Running Y Ranch Golf Course.

Street received help from Matt Gervais and Mat Schulenberg, who each carded 83s. Tanner Harris chipped in with an 87 as the Crusaders shot 328 as a team.

The Panthers' Malcolm McGeary led a consistent bunch with an 82. Brandon Bol shot an 83, while James Sherbourne and Andrew Martin each penciled in 84s.

North Medford's Hamilton Baehr was medalist runner-up with a 79, but the Black Tornado (350) finished behind third-place Ashland (349) by one stroke in the four-team tournament.

Matt Amrhein led Ashland with an 83.

Girls Golf

SWC TOURNAMENT — At Roseburg, Sunshine Powers was medalist and North Medford kept it going, winning its third Southwest Conference in as many chances at Roseburg Country Club.

Powers shot an 84 and the Black Tornado, which shot 364 as a team, received the third and fourth top scores from Abby Perkins and Abby Mann, who shot 92 and 93, respectively.

Katelyn Galante added a 95 for North Medford, and even Kelsey Hoffman, who finished outside of North's counted scores, carded a 96 — the sixth best score on the day.
