ASHLAND — A traffic stop led police to an illegal indoor marijuana garden of 138 plants today near Emigrant Lake east of Ashland, officials said.

An Oregon State Police trooper stopped Brian Allen Waldrip's car on Interstate 5 near milepost 2 early this morning.

During the stop, the trooper found approximately one pound of marijuana inside the car, police said in a news release.

Shortly after, OSP troopers along with Rogue Area Drug Enforcement team officials and agents from the Drug Enforcement Administration searched Waldrip's home in the 6000 block of Highway 66 near Emigrant Lake.

They discovered 69 mature marijuana plants up to four feet tall and 96 smaller plants, officials said.

Grow equipment and more than $3,900 in cash also were seized, police said.

Waldrip was cited to appear in Jackson County Circuit Court for manufacture, delivery and possession of marijuana.
