Frederick T. Walsh



Frederick T. Walsh, 93, of Central Point, Ore., passed away Saturday, April 25, 2009 at Home Sweet Home Adult Foster Care in Medford, Ore., surrounded by his wife and friends who loved him.

He was born Dec. 27, 1915 in Stockton, Calif., and grew up there farming and raising stock. At the age of 19 he joined the United States Navy and became a naval aviator and Aircraft Commander. In his 26 years in the Navy, he spent 18 years in overseas campaigns. Fred was deeply patriotic and served his country with honor.

After retiring from the Navy, Fred moved to Shady Cove, Ore. He became Cheif Pilot for KOBI channel 5 TV station in Medford, Ore. He also worked at Rogue Valley Skyways based in Medford, Ore., as a Flight Instructor with full ratings and Flight Examiner.

Fred was a very intelligent man with varied interests. He was into mechanics, electronics, computers, gunsmithing, woodworking, watchmaking and repair and he loved his motorcycles.

Fred is survived by his wife of 42 years, Virginia; daughter Kathleen Binder; and son Barry Walsh.

He was preceded in death by his parents Frederick and Elizabeth Walsh; and his son Kevin Walsh. Inurnment will be at the V.A. National Cemetery in Eagle Point, Ore.
