A Klamath Falls woman remains hospitalized at Rogue Valley Medical Center today after she was injured in a wreck that closed Highway 140 near Fish Lake Wednesday afternoon.

Theresa Lynn Carrigan, 46, reportedly fell asleep as she was driving along the highway toward Klamath Falls, police said in a news release. She was in good condition at the hospital this morning, said RVMC spokesman Grant Walker.

Her car, a Honda sport-utility vehicle, drifted across the westbound lane and onto the gravel shoulder. She woke up and tried to steer it back onto the road but lost control, police said. The car traveled up a bank and rolled several times, coming to a rest in the highway’s westbound lane.

Crews from Lake Creek Fire & Rescue extricated Carrigan from the vehicle.

The accident occurred just after noon, and Highway 140 was closed for about a half-hour so a medical helicopter could move Carrigan.
