A new campaign to raise money to feed Jackson County's hungry gets under way Wednesday.

The social service agency ACCESS Inc. hopes to raise $50,000 with "Mayors United, Helping Feed Our Community," which uses area mayors to bring attention to the cause.

The campaign will culminate June 14 with a party at the Jackson County Exposition Center that will include dancing, live music from Rogue Suspects and the Karen Lovely Band, wine, beer, food and refreshments. Tickets will be $25 per person.

"We are excited to present this opportunity for the community to come together for a big celebration event that will raise necessary funds to help feed the hungry here in Jackson County," said Gary Miller, ACCESS Inc. executive director. "With the economy on everyone's mind, ACCESS is responding by being proactive to remain stable during tough times. One in four Jackson County residents depends on our services, and we cannot stand pat during this difficult time."

The public can contribute by calling the ACCESS donation phone line at (541) 774-4312 or by making an online donation by visiting www.access-inc.org and following the "Mayors United" link.
