A 29-year-old man died of head trauma Sunday after the off-road Jeep Wrangler he was driving rolled down a hill at Hinkle Gulch, one mile off Thompson Creek Road in the Applegate, said Jackson County sheriff's Sgt. Rick Kennedy.

A 29-year-old man died of head trauma Sunday after the off-road Jeep Wrangler he was driving rolled down a hill at Hinkle Gulch, one mile off Thompson Creek Road in the Applegate, said Jackson County sheriff's Sgt. Rick Kennedy.

The man, whose name was not released late Sunday pending notification of next of kin, apparently was trying to ascend a dirt hill when the accident happened. He was pronounced dead at the scene in the company of medical personnel.

Mercy Flights, Applegate fire and Josephine County fire responded to the scene after a 9-1-1 call was placed at about 6:30 p.m. Sunday.

The man was with two other men who were not in the vehicle at the time of the accident. Neither was injured.
