The man who died Sunday when his Jeep rolled down a hill in the Applegate was from Missouri, police say.

Ryan Welch, 29, died in the accident on an unmarked dirt road off Hinkle Gulch Road in Williams, said Jackson County sheriff's Sgt. Rick Kennedy.

Welch apparently was trying to climb a dirt hill when the Jeep he was driving rolled over at about 6:30 p.m., police said. He suffered head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Two other men were with him when the accident happened but were not in the Jeep. Neither was injured.

An investigation is continuing.
