Police will conduct a two-hour effort in Phoenix Wednesday to raise drivers' awareness about pedestrians.

The "pedestrian safety enforcement" will take place from 10 a.m. to noon at the intersection of South Pacific Highway and Third Street.

The sheriff's office and Phoenix Police Department will have officers at the intersection who will watch for drivers who do not stop for pedestrians.

"Drivers need to remember to 'stop and stay stopped' when coming upon pedestrians crossing at an uncontrolled intersection," police said in a news release.
