Medford City Councilman and historian Ben Truwe will talk about the city's most colorful characters of the past in "Boomers, Charlatans and Thieves of Early Medford," to be presented at local libraries starting next week.

His presentation will begin at noon Wednesday at the Medford library, 205 S. Central Ave., Medford, and at noon June 10 at the Ashland library, 410 Siskiyou Blvd., Ashland.

His talk is part of the Southern Oregon Historical Society's brown-bag lecture series, "Land Of The Empire Builders," designed to celebrate Oregon's 150th birthday. It is co-sponsored by Jackson County Library Services.
