Ralph Bernard Magnani

May 21, 1917-May 24, 2009

Ralph Magnani was born May 21, 1917 to Virginia Franca and Italo Magnani in Honolulu, Hawaii. He died at home in Central Point, Ore.

He worked as a machinist at Pearl Harbor and then at Long Beach Naval Shipyard. He married his wife, Heliotrope, April 2, 1946. They relocated to Long Beach, Calif., in the 1940's. They moved to Central Point, Ore., in 1965 to a five acre property which his wife called "our mini ranch." Together Ralph and his wife tried their hands at raising beef cattle. The cattle were of Black Angus bred with Hereford. They left the ranch in 1980 and moved closer to town, which was where he spent the rest of his life.

Ralph is survived by his wife, Heliotrope; his son, Michael Morris; two granddaughters, Donna Jean Caetano and Sandra Reis; one grandson, Michael Lee; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Too many to name. He is also survived by one sister, Isadora Santos; and two brothers, Theodore and Paul Magnani.

A graveside service will be held at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Medford, Ore., Tuesday, June 2, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. with Bishop Michael K. Duncan officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association. Arrangements by Conger-Morris, Central Point Chapel 664-3361.
