Summer in Medford gets going a day early when the Medford Cruise rolls into town today.

The annual fundraiser for the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Rogue Valley runs through Sunday around the area.

Today's events include a poker run tour of Southern Oregon bed-and-breakfast inns beginning at 9:30 a.m. at HomeTown Buffet and drag races at 4:30 p.m. at the Champion Raceway in the Jackson County Sports Park in White City. Admission is $10.

At 7:30 p.m., there will be a party in Hawthorne Park with live music by Jamie's Rock 'n' Roll Legends, with singers impersonating Buddy Holly, Connie Francis, Patsy Cline and Elvis. Following the live music will be a free showing of the movie "American Graffiti" on a 25-by-25-foot screen. Those watching can hear the movie on the radio in their cars as if they were at a drive-in.

Schedules for other days are available in today's Tempo section at www.mailtribune.com/tempo. The annual car show near Hawthorne Park on parts of Jackson Street begins at 10 a.m. Saturday, and the annual downtown cruise begins at 6 p.m. Saturday. Some area streets will be closed during both events.
