Medford police officer Brent Mak is recovering from minor injuries after he was struck by a vehicle while on a bicycle patrol Saturday night.

The 43-year-old officer, who wasn't identified by police earlier, was transported to the hospital, but later was released.

Police cited Faustino Gomez-Cortes, 18, of Medford for failing to obey a traffic-control device, said officer Don Lane.

Mak and another officer were cycling east on Eighth Street where it crosses Riverside Avenue and were headed through a green traffic signal when a vehicle in the northbound lanes on Riverside Avenue struck Mak.
