Carl "Eric" Hamrin



Carl "Eric" Hamrin, 88, is now home with the Lord. He died Wednesday, June 17, 2009, in Medford, Ore.

Eric was born June 5, 1921, in Falun, Sweden to Carl Gustav and Hannah Hamrin.

He was involved in the Normandy Invasion as a member of the 82nd Airborne landing in the town of Ste. Mere Eglise and continued through the Battle of the Bulge. For his heroism, he was awarded three Bronze Stars and two Purple Hearts.

Eric married Wanda Nelson on October 14, 1950, in Kingsburg, Calif.

The 16 years prior to retirement he was manager of Jackson County Vector Control District. Eric was an active member of Bethel Church and served as an officer of The Gideons International, Rogue Valley North Camp.

He is survived by his wife and two children, Mark (Cathy) Hamrin of Jacksonville, Ore., and Karen (Tim) Jarret of Cottage Grove, Ore.; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., June 23, 2009, at Bethel Church, 4245 Vista Pointe Dr., Medford, Ore.
