Fire investigators are working to determine the cause of a fire that damaged a Talent triplex, displacing three families.

The fire was reported at about 6:15 p.m. Monday and crews from Jackson County Fire District No. 5 and Medford Fire Department responded.

Firefighters found smoke in an upstairs apartment of the two-story building in the 300 block os West Main Street and cut through the roof to reach the fire smoldering in the attic, District 5 officials said. Damage extended into a downstairs kitchen as well.

American Red Cross Southern Oregon Chapter responded Monday night to assist the displaced families with immediate needs.

Investigators haven't found a cause of the fire yet, but hope to have more details later.
