Golf

Norm Homeier broke his own course record at Stone Ridge Golf Course on June 15.

Homeier shot a 12-under-par 60 at the par 72 golf course, besting his previous mark of 61.

He carded a 29 on the front and 31 on the back in a round which included 10 birdies, an eagle and seven pars.

Homeier was accompanied by Mike Austin, Larry Lilze, David Oas and Scott Lusk during the round.

Bill Doss registered his second hole-in-one on June 17 on the eighth hole at Eagle Point Golf Club.

The shot was witnessed by playing partners Bruce Lemmerman, Larry Schmaltz and Craig Gage.

Softball

The North Medford 14-under ASA softball team went 5-1 to win its own invitational on June 13.

The Black Tornado, which dropped its tourney opener before rattling off five straight victories, defeated Crater 8-4 in nine innings in the championship game.

Pitcher Maryssa Becker struck out 11 in the title contest, while Joci Ellis was 12-for-22 from the plate over the six games played. Teammate Katie Williamson contributed 10 hits in 19 at-bats to go with seven RBIs.
