The Southern Oregon RiverDawgs had to come from behind twice before posting a 7-5 victory over the San Jose Seals in nonleague amateur baseball Thursday at Harry & David Field.

The RiverDawgs (8-4) scored three unearned runs in the fifth inning to take the lead for good in the see-saw contest. Mitchell Nelson's two-run double to left scored the tying and go-ahead runs as Southern Oregon grabbed 6-5 advantage.

The RiverDawgs tacked on an insurance run in the sixth when Johnny Omahen singled with one out, moved to second on a ground out and scored on Jared Adamson's single.

Jon Flinn picked up his first save of the year with one inning of perfect relief.

Aaron Hassel collected two hits and one RBI for the RiverDawgs.

Southern Oregon hosts San Jose again at 7 p.m. today at Harry & David Field.

ASHLAND 6-8, NORTH MEDFORD 4-9 — At Ashland, Shaun Whitehead and Cory Pine each drove in three runs to lead North Medford in the second game and force a split in the Area 4 doubleheader.

Whitehead smacked a two-run double and Pine followed with an RBI single in a pivotal six-run fourth inning for the Mavericks (10-7, 7-7 Area 4). Cody James was 4-for-4 with one RBI and Michael Paxton joined Whitehead and Pine with two hits apiece to help Michael Bradshaw improve to 2-0 on the mound.

Luke Baldrica hit a two-run home run with two outs in the fifth inning of Game 1 for Ashland. Ethan Schlecht doubled in the sixth and Brent Hegdahl followed with an RBI double to help lift the Pilots.

Cory Haggans was 2-for-2 with three runs and Jordan Frost 2-for-2 with two RBIs for North Medford in the opener.
