James Mattison Chubb

"Chubber"



James Mattison Chubb, 58, passed away Thursday, June 18, 2009. He was born in 1951 to Charles and Nancy Chubb, in Glendale, Calif. He later moved to Oregon and attended Eagle Point High School, where he graduated from in 1969. He was a three sport athlete, playing baseball, football, and basketball. After high school, he was drafted into the U.S. Army, where he served in Korea. After his two years in the Army, he attended Treasure Valley Community College, Ontario, Ore.

Upon completing college, he moved back to the Rogue Valley where, in 1978, he married Marie Renfro. They later had two sons, Mattison Scott and Kirby James.

Jim was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt with his sons, Matt and K.J., and his friends, Ron Faber and Bob Decker. Another of his passions was officiating high school sports. For 25 years, he was officiating either baseball, basketball or football. Jim had a great sense of humor and loved playing with his beautiful grandsons, Hunter and Tyson. He also was fond of his dogs, Frank, Bo, and Sir Winston.

Jim is survived by his wife, his sons, Mattison Scott (Alisha) and Kirby James; brother, Steve (Barb); half-sister, Tina, half-brothers, Daun, Tim and Eric;

He will be missed by his extended Renfro family: Grandma Shirley, Kirby and Karen, Rolly and Linda, Linda and Ron.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Michael; and his beloved father-in-law, Roy Renfro.
