Cecil L. Plumb, Jr.



Cecil L. Plumb, Jr., 73, passed away peacefully at home Wednesday, June 17, 2009, from a 13 year illness with PSP (Progressive Supranuclear Palsy) a degenerative neurological disease.

Cecil was born Dec. 31, 1935 to Cora and Cecil Plumb, Sr. in Squires, Miss., they moved west and settled in Oregon where Cecil graduated from Woodburn High School in 1954.

He served two years in the Army and was later recalled for the Berlin Crisis. In 1964 Cecil graduated from Oregon State University with a B.S. degree in Production Management. He later worked for Shell Oil Co. as a field supervisor and from 1972 to 1983, owned and operated a petroleum jobbership in Grants Pass, Ore., where he met and married his wife, Carol, in April 1976.

They relocated to southern California in 1983. He became a licensed roofing contractor and later a licensed real estate broker. Retiring in 1996, because of his illness, they moved back to Oregon in 2002.

Cecil was preceded in death by his mother and father; and his brother, Troy Plumb. Cecil is survived by his wife, Carol; sister, Pauline Herzberg, of Salem, Ore.; daughter, Valerie Erfurt, of Salem, Ore.; son, Bradley Plumb and his wife, April, of Bend, Ore.; four grandchildren, Jessica Erfurt, Jacob Erfurt, Brianna Plumb and Brenden Plumb; and one great-grandchild, Kayden, yet to be born in August.

A memorial will be held on Friday, July 3, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. at Conger-Morris Funeral Chapel, 715 W. Main St., Medford, OR. with a celebration of life to follow at his residence.
