ASHLAND — The Oregon State Police bomb squad disposed of a pipe bomb found Wednesday afternoon near the Bonneville Power substation on Mountain Avenue, police said.

Two Bonneville Power employes found the pipe with both ends capped with wiring in a secluded area in the 400 block of Mountain Avenue, Ashland police said in a news release.

The pipe bomb was in an area not traveled by the public, so there were no evacuations, police said.

It is not known how long the device was in the area, but police are not speculating that it was directed at the substation.

The bomb was sent to the OSP crime lab for investigation.

At this time, there are no suspects.
