Jackie L. Simcox

Jaqualine Lavon Cook peacefully passed from this life July 18, 2009. She was born in Antlers, Okla., on Feb. 27, 1923, but her family soon moved to Cassville, Mo., where she was raised. Jackie married her childhood sweetheart, Fred Simcox, on Sept. 21, 1941 and had two daughters, Karen (Lowell) Dean, Keizer, Ore. and Nancy (Rick) Smith, Medford, Ore. They all moved to Medford in 1946.

Jackie had a variety of jobs in her lifetime, but two of her favorites were working in the activities office at the Medford Senior High School in the 1960's and as a bookkeeper for Dr. Mario Campagna. She and Fred enjoyed being snowbirds in Tempe, Ariz., for a number of years. Jackie delighted in being with her family and friends, gardening, crocheting, tap dancing, being in a washboard band and making people laugh. She was a jewel and will be greatly missed.

Besides her daughters, Jackie is survived by her brother, William Russell; sister, Charlotte Owens; five grandchildren; and three great-granddaughters. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Fred Simcox; brother, Robert Russell; and sister, Una Pangburn.
