Three local cities are planning park improvements after being notified they will share $138,000 in grant funding announced Monday by the state.

Central Point received $25,000, Gold Hill $81,000 and Phoenix $32,000 to put toward parks and outdoor trails.

Planned uses range from permanent restrooms and basketball courts to overall park improvements and trail upgrades.

Central Point and Phoenix both intend to use the money for park restrooms. In Gold Hill, the money will be spent on a popular sports park that's been under development for more than a decade. Needs there include an improved parking lot, basketball court and exercise stations at various locations along surrounding trails, officials said.
