The pedestrian bridge connecting Alba Drive to the dog park in Medford's Bear Creek Park will be closed starting Monday for as long as three months during construction of a retaining wall that's part of the reconstruction of Alba Drive.

Alba Drive runs north from Barnett Road along the west bank of Bear Creek.

Gary Leaming, a spokesman for the Oregon Department of Transportation, said in a media release that the retaining wall is part of a project to rebuild a new sidewalk to the pedestrian bridge. Safety concerns required the bridge to be closed, Leaming said.

The new sidewalk is part of a larger project that will rebuild the bridge that carries Barnett Road over Bear Creek. The new bridge is part of the larger south freeway interchange rebuild.
