A pedestrian bridge just north of Medford's Barnett Road and adjacent to the Bear Creek dog park will close Monday for an estimated three months while construction workers build a retaining wall, according to the Oregon Department of Transportation.

Barnett Road was closed at Bear Creek on July 17 as workers demolished the aging bridge that spans the creek. The closure of the pedestrian bridge is part of the same project.

The retaining wall is needed to support a new sidewalk to the pedestrian bridge during reconstruction of Alba Drive.

Dog park users are asked to use the main Bear Creek Park entrance on Highland Drive.

Barnett Road will be closed for up to six months and is one of the final phases in the $70 million south Medford interchange project that began in 2006.
