Triple-digit heat is still headed toward the Rogue Valley, but it will come later and be less intense than originally expected, forecasters said today.

Weekend temperatures are expected to break 100 degrees, but not 107 as originally predicted by the National Weather Service. Highs are expected to peak at 104 by Tuesday or Wednesday before falling.

National Weather Service meteorologist Kelly Sugden predicted that temperatures this weekend will range between 98 and 101.

“It’s still hot,” said Sugden.

“It does look down after the middle of next week –– down to about the mid-90s,” he said. Thunderstorms are a possibility by the following weekend.
