Shirley A. Wallace



The memorial service for Shirley Ann Wallace will be held at 10:00 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 9, 2009 at the Wallace home. Mrs. Wallace, 73, of Ashland, died Thursday, July 16, 2009 at home with her family and friends.



Shirley was born May 16, 1936 in Crediton, Devonshire, United Kingdom, the daughter of Blanche and Ned Woodgates. She was raised and received nursing training in England before moving to Canada in 1959.



On Feb. 26, 1960 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada she married Brian Wallace, who survives. They moved to the United States in 1968, living in Long Island, New York, Arizona, Texas and California before moving to Ashland, Ore., in 1996.



Shirley enjoyed gardening, baking, knitting and reading. She and Brian owned and operated Ashland's English Country Cottage Bed & Breakfast in Ashland for over three years.



In addition to her husband, she is survived by son, Steven Wallace, of San Clemente, Calif.; daughter, Sally Rosenthal, of Jacksonville, Ore.; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
