James and Beverly McKinney of Rogue River celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary June 21 by renewing their wedding vows at Grace Baptist Church in Rogue River. They then spent a second honeymoon at the McCloud Hotel in McCloud, Calif., before traveling to Southern California for an extended visit with their daughter and a luncheon on June 27 in Westminster, Calif. Eight people attended the luncheon, which was hosted by their daughter, Beth Peabody of Westminster. They also spent time in Santa Cruz visiting relatives there.

James McKinney married Beverly Hill on June 21, 1959, in Pacific Grove, Calif.

Jim met Bev when they were both working at Holman's Department Store in Pacific Grove.

After their marriage, they attended Bethany Bible College in Santa Cruz, Calif. After college, they pastored in Northern California and Oregon for 17 years. During this time, their son, Clint, was born and they adopted their daughter, Bethany, five years later.

After relocating to Southern California, Jim and Bev worked as staff employees at the University of California, Irvine. Jim worked there for 17 years and Bev worked there for 22 years. Bev retired in 2003 and began a writing career and Jim retired in 2004.

After Jim's retirement, they relocated to Rogue River.

They have two children, Clint McKinney of Brookings and Beth Peabody of Westminster, Calif. They also have two grandchildren (one deceased).
