Larry and Barbara Van Ausdall of Medford celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary July 2 with a dinner at Bel Di's in Shady Cove. Their daughter, Laura Nicolson, son-in-law Matthew, and grandson Ryan, came down from Portland and took them to dinner a week later. A formal celebration that will include family and friends will be held at a later date.

Larry Van Ausdall married Barbara Nigl on July 2, 1959, in Medford.

Larry and Barbara were both born and raised in Medford and met in 1958 at Library Park in downtown Medford.

Larry served in the Army Reserves for six years in with six months in active duty. He went to work for the Bureau of Land Management as a civil engineer, retiring in 1994 after 35 years of service. Larry is an active bowler and golfer.

Barbara is a homemaker and loves to decorate. She also enjoys gardening, reading and cooking.

The Van Ausdalls have two children, Randy (Rica) Van Ausdall of Downey, Calif., and Laura (Matthew) Nicholson of Hillsboro. They also have one grandchild.
